Louisiana is taking a long delayed look at how it funds K-12 education. In early 2026, lawmakers created the MFP task force to examine the state’s K-12 funding structures and recommend reforms by 2027, ahead of the adoption of the next funding formula.
The MFP Project aims to clarify the formula, better understand the true cost of educating kids in Louisiana, and provide policymakers with straightforward information they can actually use.
The Project isn’t about pushing a specific outcome—it’s about making sure the conversation starts with good information.
